How to repeat:

From the main menu, choose Tools --> MySQL Command Line Client or Tools --> MySQL Administrator.

Suggested fix:

Home connection list context menu could be made extensible through plugins
and a plugin could be written to start the cmdline client for the selected connection.

However, MySQL Administrator is deprecated and no shortcuts to it will be added.

An entry has been added to the 5.2.31a changelog:

It was not possible to launch the MySQL Command Line Client from the SQL Editor.

MySQL Workbench has been changed so that it is now possible to launch a MySQL Command Line Client from the Home screen. This can be done through the context-sensitive menu available for items listed in the connections listbox on the Home screen.
