The 5.1.50 community build(only) is failing on HP-UX 11.23 ia64 (hpita2.mysql.com)

How to repeat:
Try to build 5.1.50 Community on hpita2.mysql.com.

Suggested fix:
I was able to manually build this platform by 
cd mysql-5.1.50
/usr/local/bin/gmake 2>&1 | tee ../../Logs/test_make.log

We suspect we are extremely close to some machine limit (swap space?  RAM?), so that the hierarchy of processes calling "gmake" makes the difference.
