It would also be nice if successful and attempted logins to the dashboard are logged to the tomcat logfile. Ideally, it should be possible to suppress it. For security reasons, having the user logins in the log file might not be wanted.

what's wrong with having user logins in the log file? What is not good is to include the password but I wouldn't expect the password to be logged.
