Description:
Because of the new DOS protection I am unable to connect to my mysql servers from private ip space as I am not the authoritative server for the 10.10 ip space. I was able to work around this by creating a local dns server that pretended to be authoritative. This should be, minimally, listed in the documentation. It would be swell if there was a way to white list certain IP's. I cannot use skip_name_resolve for several reason.

How to repeat:
Try to connect from private IP space without reverse DNS.

Suggested fix:
Document, white list, allow hosts file entries to be used.

I should add that this was discovered after we went live and was preventing us from getting replication going.

The proper 10.10.x.x address. The problem is that reverse dns is not always appropriate for private networks. It would be nice if you could check the hosts file as well if no reverse is found.

Thank you for the feedback.

If resolveip returns correct IP address you should be able to connect. Please send us command you use to connect to MySQL server and error message you get.

You also mentioned "new DOS protection". Does it mean you changed something in your application or do you mean particular change in MySQL code?
