Description:
When starting ndbd on Windows, the command window stays active with ndbd running in the foreground, even with the --daemon option entered (which is the default).

How to repeat:
Start ndb_mgm and then start ndbd. The DOS window where you start this will stay active with ndbd running, and no commandprompt returned, even if --daemon is set. This is true also for ndb_mgmd

Suggested fix:
Implement a daemon mode for these tools on Windows, or even better, implement them as Windows services.

ndb_mgmd already support being installed as a service on Windows. We are working on the same support for ndbd.

Can you please point to the appropriate section in the manual where it is documented how to do this with ndb_mgmd, so I can test it and make sure it works as expected.

Unfortunately it has not been documented yet.
