Description:
The "Check for updates..." menu option in 5.2.16 takes me to a broken page
(http://wb.mysql.com/workbench/version-check.php?config=OSS&version=5.2.16&revision=5249) which says, as of a few minutes ago:

No new version of MySQL Workbench available at this time.
You are currently using MySQL Workbench 5.2.16 OSS, Revision 5249

Checking this updates page was the first thing I did when I first
started having problems last week. Then, thinking that I had the most recent version, I felt okay reporting a bug when the Workbench Crash Reporter asked me to. Lo and behold, the response I got was immediate, "Please update to 5.2.21 and see if you still experience the problem". If you just fixed this web page, you could save both your users and developers a lot of time.

Thanks!

Derek

How to repeat:
Select "Check for Updates" using an old version of Workbench, or just visit the URL listed above.

Suggested fix:
Fix the web page to report the recommended upgrade for any given version of Workbench. For example, 5.1.16 -> 5.1.18 and 5.2.16 -> 5.2.21. This doesn't even require a new release of Workbench, since only the web page needs to be fixed and otherwise responsible users of old versions of Workbench who have been cheerfully not upgrading because of the broken page will then know they should upgrade.

Cheers,

Derek

Indeed, that page does not suggest to upgrade to 5.2.21 (as it should, theoretically), but had you noted this text there:

"This is a development build. Please check manually for new releases at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench"

Every responsible user who followed that instruction was able to found out that there is a newer version...

Sorry, I must have missed that text. Anyhow, I like the new version of the page.

This is not a bug in the documentation, but rather a change request for a page owned by the Workbench development team. Changing category for that reason.

As this was a change to the web page rather than Workbench itself, I have not added an entry to the changelog.
