I am unable to repeat this, please provide information about exact what package and version of Ubuntu you are running. Also, pls attach stack trace printed to terminal when WB crashes if possible.

I can repeat with the following steps: - Open Manager Server Instance dialog - Click New (or Delete) - Close instance editor dialog - Click New Server Instance link in Home I was only able to guess the exact steps after looking at the stack trace, provided instructions were ambiguous.

An entry has been added to the 5.2.22 changelog: If the Manage Server Instances dialog was launched, and either the New or Delete button clicked, and then the dialog closed, MySQL Workbench crashed if the New Server Instance action item was then clicked on the Home screen.
