Description:
After 2nd or 3rd successful use, it crashed whilst doing something quite simply and now crashes everytime when attempting to startup.

I get the "Welcome to MytSQL Workbench" splash screen.
After a few seconds a message box comes up with a red circle and white cross and the following text lines:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program: ...m Files\MySQL\MySQL Workbench 5.2 OSS\MySQLWorkbench.exe

abnormal program termination.

With an OK button to quit.

How to repeat:
Attempt to startup.

I guess the key to this was what I was doing when it originally crashed, but as that we several days ago, sorry I don't remember.

I tried re-installing from the MSI file and it works again (at least on 1st attempt).

Hi Richard,
does it work now for you? otherwise, could you upload your demo files (you can mark them as private)?
thanks in advance

Sorry, but I subsequently discovered that the occasional Windows-7 chkdsk runs at start up were actually sufficiently severe to cause corrupted user files. (Microsoft were completely useless at addressing this issue!)

Since re-running the installation causes the system to run properly for use over the whole weekend, I now think this must have been the result of file corruption which has happened since upgrading to Windows 7.

Sorry for any wasted effort this may have caused.
