Description:
mysqld_multi defaults to logging to /usr/share/mysqld_multi.log.

At least on Linux and OS X that really should be /var/log/mysqld_multi.log

How to repeat:
1) start mysqld_multi with no configuration

2) go look for the log file.

Suggested fix:
s!/usr/share!/var/log!g

Thank you for the report.

In *tar.gz package it is /usr/local/mysql/share which is under mysql tree, so not so critical as in your description. Which package do you use (filename you downloaded)?
[24 Apr 2010 9:37] Ask Hansen
The RHEL 5 x86_64 MySQL-server-community RPM.

Thank you for the feedback.

Verified as described using MySQL-server-community-5.1.46-1.rhel5.x86_64.rpm Logs located in /usr/share by default.

Workaround: indicate location manually. But still this is embarrassing.
