Description:
In the downloadable version of 4.1 for Mac OS X, there is an autostartup program. It installed into the directory /Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM. The executable script inside the MySQLCOM directory, however, is named MySQL. Under OS X I believe the directory and the startup script must have the same name. As delivered, the startup script fails (without an error message that i can find).

How to repeat:
1. Install the downloadable version of 4.1 server on Mac OS X (personal, not server)
2. Restart Mac

Result: mysql does not start
Expect: mysql should start

Suggested fix:
If you rename the startup script itself from MySQL to MySQLCOM the database launches properly on startup.

Thank you for your bug report. This issue has already been fixed
in the latest released version of that product, which you can download at
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/

Additional info:

The StartupItems file is named MySQLCOM in 4.1.4 install
