Description:
I am using mysql server and client version 5.1.41. This error message began appearing after I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04.

When I launch MySQL Workbench, a popup appears:
Error
Tunnel Manager
Cannot start SSH tunnel manager

As far as I know, I'm not using such a feature -- I only use mysql on localhost. After closing the error message, I have no trouble using Workbench.

How to repeat:
Always appears immediately upon launching Workbench.
[24 Mar 2010 8:52] Johannes Taxacher
looks like there are some changes to the according packages from 9.10->10.04
we will look into that when we are about to switch to 10.04.

Hi,

can you confirm whether the error persists with Ubuntu 10.04 final (NOT beta)?
[30 Apr 2010 23:18] Brian Vaughan
With the release version of Ubuntu 10.04, I'm no longer getting the error message. As it wasn't interfering with my use of Workbench, I don't know what other effects there may have been, but as far as I know, there is no longer a bug.
[1 May 2010 2:16] Alfredo Kojima
Thank you for the response.

I've seen reports of similar errors (from other programs) in google. Considering
the error is gone with 10.04 Final, I assume this was a bug in Ubuntu 10.04 beta
not in Workbench.
[2 May 2010 9:59] Alex Frenkel
Unfortunatly, I have this bug in 10.04 final

I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 final and from this point onvard I am getting this message.
[14 May 2010 13:13] Marcos Calabrese
I've just upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 -> 10.04 (Final) and have the same error.
[17 May 2010 5:20] Dale Maggee
I'm having this same problem after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04 final.

I'd like to comment that to me the severity of 'non-critical' is incorrect, as this error means I am unable to use the software.
[25 Jun 2010 8:01] Dale Maggee
Any update on this? It's been months now and no new comments, even though people are still seeing this error in 10.04 final.

today I had to resort to doing a database diagram with an archaic device known as a 'pencil'...

Hi,

installing package "python-paramiko" in Ubuntu 10.04 solves the problem (missing python import in sshtunnel.py).

Cheers,

Wolfgang

I have python-paramiko installed but error is still there: Module md5 is not there.

Hi wolfgang,

Thanks for the response, but I already had python-paramiko installed, so that's not it... :(

Data Directory: /usr/share/mysql-workbench
Cairo Version: 1.8.10
Rendering Mode: OpenGL is not available on this system, so Native is used for rendering.
OS: Linux 2.6.32-24-generic
CPU: 2x Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz 800.000 MHz, 3.8 GB RAM

Under the mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.33b-win32 installation process, it ask for .net framework 4.0. If the client computer didn't install .net framework 3.5 before, it will only install .net framework 4.0. The bug occur...

You don't necessary to uninstall the mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.33b-win32. If you install the .net framework 3.5 sp1, it work fine.
