Description:
I have installed all the above on a new HP dv8 8Gb Ram, 1 Tb disk and the new i7 (quad core/8core) CPU. I have no issues with the DB, but when I create users - they are unable to connect - only root - I have disabled the firewall - no change.

Even in the workbench - I cannot connect to the new users. This is all out of the box, can someone give me a hint - I was thinking the JDBC driver - but I cannot find anything on the net.

How to repeat:
create a new user - apply, add schema and rights to the user - apply
add user to the query browser and create connection - unable to connect.

If you go back and reapply the password to the user - it will work.
looks like the second action resets the password to null when you apply the rights.

I have created several users - all the same - resetting the password fixed them every time.

Suggested fix:
Work around is to come back after setting all the rights and privs - and re-entering the password and apply it. This applies to any changes made to the user - even after the first creation.
