I have a database with utf 8 chinese characters in it but workbench latest version 5.2.26 will not display correctly. Cut and paste from a query window shows the data is there correctly.

I Also encountered the same problem
OS fedora 12 86X64
mysql workbench version 5.7.27
env
GDM_LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
database character-set(I don't think this matter though) :utf-8

1 I could input Chinese character in the connection manager. It show works fluently.
2 I can't input Chinese character in the editor
3 The data output could not display Chinese character correctly either.

I think This workbench is a great software. It can help me developing very quickly. It's very convenient. It would be better if it could be more international.

Thank you for your work. If you want more information from me, please contact me via mail.leonmu@gmail.com.

Wishing response from you. ^_^

Go to Edit -> Preferences and in Appearance set the font for Editor to something that you know supports chinese. Please report if that works.

The problem I encounted was not the display. Both the editor and the query result supports Chinese properly. The problem was that my Chinese input method, Google Pinyin, did not work well.

I've installed another Chinese input method, MS Quanpin, which works well so far.

So, do you still think that there is something to fix in Workbench?
