Description:
Trying to dump any database just hangs.

Choose a database and tables to dump, press Start Export.
Progress bar "Export is running" comes up
but then nothing further happens. Progress bar stays stuck at the beginning.

Looking at the dump file requested, two lines are written to it, e.g. 
CREATE DATABASE  IF NOT EXISTS `test` /*!40100 DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci */;
USE `test`;
but nothing further.

Happens for every database I tried (databases are on local server on same machine as MySQL Workbench.

How to repeat:
Connect to a server
Choose a database (any)
Select its tables.
Try to do a dump (doesn't matter if you do self-contained files or all one file)
Hit Start Export.

Happens for every database, even trivially small ones.

The log window for the above example just shows

Hello Ralph,

to which server (version and platform) are you connected (locally on your osx box or to some other platform over ssh)?

Server is 5.1.44, MacOS X x86_64 10,6 connected locally.

Please provide the error log from server from the time when you tried to dump.

There's nothing much in the error log:

On which OS is the server running?
Is the server local or remote?

I already answered that, I think:

Server is 5.1.44, MacOS X x86_64 10.6 connected locally.

I can not repeat this with 5.2.16 on Mac OS 10.5.6 and local 5.1.45 server. I can export any database/tables easily.

I am using 10.6.x.

I have been able to reproduce the problem on a second machine, running
MacOS X 10.6.2
MySQL 5.1.43 (64 bit); on localhost
MySQL Workbench 5.2.16 beta; connection made via tcp/ip not socket

Please, check if this is still repeatable with a newer version, 5.2.17.

Problem no longer exists in 5.2.17.
