Thank you for the feature request. You can use [Ctrl]+[Del] in the meantime.

Many thanks for writing a feature request. We discussed this and won't implement it during foreseeable future. Consider, Workbench works on several different operating systems and not always behaviour is familiar. You ask for DEL because it is typical on Windows. I would vote for ESC-X ... CTRL-DEL is familiar on most OS and so we chose this combination.
