Description:
Workbench 5.2.6 will not start on Windows 32-bit.

It will install fine (if you manually uninstall previous version of WB 5.2).

However, when you go to start it, it hangs for a bit, and then throws a runtime error.

-- error --

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program C:\Pro...

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

How to repeat:
1. Install (complete) version of Workbench 5.2.6 on Windows 32-bit.

2. Try to start it.

Suggested fix:
Allow it to start up properly.

Just a comment:

For me, it only fails to start on Vista 32-bit (Home Premium).

However, it starts up fine on XP 32-bit (XP Pro Service Pack 2).

Happens with both installer and no-install versions.

MySQL Workbench now also depends on Microsoft .net Framework 3.5
installing the framework fixed the problem on chris calenders machine.
updated installer will be included in 5.2.8

The main docs have been updated with .NET 3.5 as a requirement.

An entry has also been added to the 5.2.8 changelog:

MySQL Workbench did not start correctly. On start up it generated the following error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program C:\Pro...

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
