Description:
Today I have to create a user in MySQL for each user that should use my database. It would be nice to be able to authenticate users by using the OS authentication system like pam, kerberos or LDAP.

This would simplify administration in large environments.

How to repeat:
N/A

Suggested fix:
Add a configurationoption that add the possibility to use pam instead of the internal user_db.

Please do not submit the same bug more than once. An existing
bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel
that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same. Because of this, we hope you add your comments
to the original bug instead.

Thank you for your interest in MySQL.
