Many thanks for writing a bug report. We can't repeat this and would need some more informations. Are there some more details at the error message? Could you make a screenshot?

I actually get the same problem on Windows 7 and have never been able to run MySQL workbench. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling. MySQL Administrator works for me, though.

May you please install the newest version of the WB?, try to reproduce the error and if you can, get the screenshot of the error and include it on the report, besides that please right-click on the error message to get a popup menu with the menu item "copy stack to clipboard" and also include the stacktrace on the report. Thanks.

Hi experts, I have to report exactly the same situation as other users reporting. My system is Windows 7 (64-bits), and this happened since the first installation of MySQL Workbench. The error message I get is "MySQL Workbench has stopped working". Looking around in other bug threads, I read that the video driver could need an update, so I checked, but mine is up to date. I also have the latest .NET Framework (I first installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile, as it was required by the install process of MySQL Workbench; after noting this problem, I then also tried to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended). The release of MySQL Workbench which I installed is the latest (5.2.33b) as of yesterday afternoon (06-04-2011). Thanks for any advice you could provide.

Please provide a stack trace as requested by Rafael. Also, is everyone using a non-english Windows?

Hi Alfredo, I added a screenshot of the error I get. This happens right at startup of MySQL workbench and, if I right-click on the error message at that point, no menu pops up (I tried once again just a moment ago). I am using both Windows 7 64-bits and MySQL workbench in English. Thanks and best regards, Carlo

Hello. Due to the nature of your defect I need to ask you for the "Windows event log" descriptions (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer) that you get with the error in order to get enough information to reproduce the defect. Thanks.

Same with Server 2003 and framework 4.0. DW20.EXE was at 50%CPU during the MySQL workbench launching.

This only repeatable for me on Windows 2003.

Please, remove old version (including remaining *.pyc files, see http://wb.mysql.com/?p=1068 for details), install 5.2.34 and check if this problem is still repeatable.

Jean-Luc Barraud
It's ok for me (Windows server 2003), it works perfectly.

Hi, I just tried to uninstall my previous version, delete all left files (including remaining *.pyc files, as suggested in http://wb.mysql.com/?p=1068), and then installed latest version of MySQL Workbench (I got 5.2.34 GA (2011-05-25)). Unfortunately, at the launch of the application, I still get the same error right after the splash screen (see my earlier posts for my system configuration). Thanks for any other suggestion you might provide, Carlo

Hi, in post of [29 Jun 16:50] Jon Stephens stated that "no feedback was provided ... the bug is being suspended". However, I replied to all requests of details, getting non reply. For example, see my posts of [9 Jun 17:15], of [4 May 16:26] and earlier. I am still experiencing the problem. I don't know how to solve the issue. By the way, I don't know how to change the status of the bug back to "Open". Thanks for any help. Carlo

I also seem to be suffering from this. I have a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. After downloading and installing mysql-installer-5.5.15.0, i can't get it to start up at all. Following some of the earlier posts, I have checked the event viewer and there are errors in there (see below) Log Name: Application Source: .NET Runtime Date: 07/10/2011 12:23:02 Event ID: 1026 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: THJLAPTOP Description: Application: MySQLWorkbench.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Installer 5.5.15.0 probably still contains Workbench 5.2.34. I wonder if newer version, 5.2.35, demonstrates the same problem.

I am experiencing this bug. I just did a new install today, and it worked for awhile then stopped working. I have gotten the 'MySQL workbench has stopped working' alert ever since, even after a reboot. I would suggest that the problem exists in a file that is read in by the program that has gotten corrupted and is crashing the program.
[25 Jul 2012 8:43]
Valeriy Kravchuk
Brett, What exact version, 5.2.x, do you use? Is there anything in the Event Viewer logs about Workbench?

i have this problem every day or two in windows 7. i've found that by deleting this file C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\MySQL\Workbench\wb_options and restarting workbench, i can start working again.
