Description:
I have been having problems trying to install MySQL version 5.0 on my computer. I am running on Windows Vista and it seems to be blocking the service or something. I know other people who use Vista and are able to get MySQL running. I am unsure of why mine refuses to work. I have tried EVERYTHING. I've been searching all over google for days to see what is wrong. Nothing has worked. It goes something like, ::
Prepare Configuration (Check)
Write Configuration File (Check)
Start Service (Check)
Then when it gets to "Apply Security Settings), it won't work. I get the popup that says,
"The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with the following error.
Error Nr. 1045
Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"
It's really annoying and it's starting to make me mad. I have tried turning my firewall off along with my virus protection, I have allowed the port number to be accepted through the firewall. I have repeatedly removed the instance and created a new one but this seems to do nothing. When I first downloaded and tried to install, I wasn't really sure on what I was doing. I may have messed up there. But I've Installed and Reinstalled countless numbers of times, and the same thing keeps happening.
Any help? :(
Please?
How to repeat:
Get through the installation then at the end it says,
Prepare Configuration (Check)
Write Configuration File (Check)
Start Service (Check)
Then when it gets to "Apply Security Settings), it won't work. I get the popup that says,
"The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with the following error.
Error Nr. 1045
Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"
