Description:
A customer would like to be able to move the binlogs and relay logs from one partition to another without stopping the server.

They have 10-20GB of MEMORY tables (which is not large by today's standards), on a slave server. Restarting the server would require either backing up these tables to disk, or resynchronizing them from the master. Either way is largely manual and error-prone.
