Description:
This is the message I see when I try to stop from MySQLAdmin:

"Stopping server...
ERROR! MySQL manager or server PID file could not be found!
Failed to stop server, trying shutdown...
Stopped server."

It will not restart from the MySQLAdmin. I have to do it from the command line either using the script provided or the line below:

Only way to restart is as follows:
sudo /usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server start

But first I had to chown _mysql /var/tmp/mysql.sock

Many people have this issue. Plese look at this Blog

http://www.superfancy.net/coding/php-mysql-apache-in-mac-osx-leopard/

and serach for:
ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file

Thanks

How to repeat:
Just install MySQL package
mysql-5.1.32-osx10.5-x86.dmg on the Mac and then try to stop it using MySQLAdministrator

Suggested fix:
Make the whole Mac / MySQL process easier???

Many thanks for writing a bug report. We are on the way to implement full functionality of MySQL Administrator into MySQL Workbench. Unfortunately you are using an unsupported platform. More informations about supported platforms you will find here:

I am horrified that Mac OS X and Linux is not a supported platform. In addition, according to your link, Linux is not either. Only Windows XP????
