Description:
SIR,I HAVR INTEL(R) CELERON(TM)CPU, 1200MHz,1.20 GHz, 192 MB RAM WITH WINDOWS XP LOADED. I HAVE INSTALLED APACHE2, PHP 5, AND MYSQL 5 ON THIS PC. I HAVE NOT BE ABLE TO CONFIGURE MYSQL ON MY APACHE SERVER.

AFTER STARTING THE "MYSQL SERVER INSTANCE CONFIGURATION WIZARD", I am repeatedly getting the following error message when I click on the execute
button in the last page of the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard:

AM ErrOR COMES OUT THAT "CAN NOT CREATE WINDOWS SERVICE FOR MYSQL".
AND THEN THE CONFIGURATION WIZARD STOPS.

I AM UNABLE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
PLZ HELP ME IN THIS MATTER. HOW CAN I COPE WITH THIS PROBLEM.
I SHALL BE VERY GRATEFULL TO YOU.

How to repeat:
following steps are used

Configure the mySQL Server now" is checked
"Detailed Configuration"
"Developer Machine"
"Multifunctional Database"
"InnoDB Tablespace Settings" - leave everything default
"Decision Support (DSS)/OLAP"
make sure "Enable TCP/IP Networking" is checked and leave the port number at 3306 (at this point, if you have a firewall, it will usually try to access itself on the localhost)
"Standard Character Set"
check "Install As Windows Service"
I recommend leaving "Include Bin Directory in Windows PATH" checked
enter your root password
then hit "execute" and it´ll install and set it up

Thank you for the problem report. Are you running wizard as local Administrator? Are you sure there is no MySQL server already using port 3306? Please, send the results of

netstat -a

command from cmd.exe to check.

This relates to EOL (no longer supported) versions of MySQL Server. Furthermore, the old plain msi installers have been superseded by the MySQL Installer for Windows. Thus closing.
