Thank you for a problem report. Can you send the exact bug number that demonstrates the problem for you? I had checked several, for example, bug #33650, and Marko Mäkelä's name is represented properly in my TB 2.0.0.18 on XP.

In the mail send to dev-bugs for this bug report, the letters appear incorrect. I am using Kubuntu 8.10

I have already noticed this issue.

Description: From the web interface, names such as "Marko Mäkelä" show correctly, but for mails sent, the Finnish/Swedish character "ä" shows as as garbage ("ä" to be exact). The same applies to some other non-ASCII characters in mails. I am using Thunderbird 2.0.0.18. How to repeat: Just look at a mail sent when a bug report is updated, e.g., a comment is added. Suggested fix: No idea. A wild guess is that the character set is not set correctly for the mails.
