Description:
In section 16.13.1 regarding setting up SCI supersockets, it refers to documentation based on 2.3.0 version dated 2004. This leads to the assumption of the following quote:

"However, SCI Sockets are currently supported only on the Linux 2.4 and 2.6 kernels. For other operating systems, you can use SCI Transporters, but this requires that the server be built using --with-ndb-sci=/opt/DIS."

However, later versions show support for other operating systems:

Q: What kind of operating systems does Dolphin SCI software support?

A. Currently Dolphin SCI software supports Linux, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Lynx, VxWorks and Solaris.

How to repeat:
N/A

Suggested fix:
Update documentation to reflect the support for other operating systems. Particularly with Solaris already being used, and Windows being developed as a Cluster platform.

Jonathon,

Actually, you're confusing SCI *(Super)Sockets* and the SCI *Transporter*, and these statements in the Manual regarding platform support

However, SCI Sockets are currently supported only on the
Linux 2.4 and 2.6 kernels. For other operating systems, you
can use SCI Transporters, but this requires that the server be
        built using --with-ndb-sci=/opt/DIS.

remain essentially correct, according to the latest version of Dolphin's documentation.

That being said, and given that

        (a) There have been quite a few changes in the usage of the Dolphin software

and
        (b) We hope to start supporting Cluster on Windows next year,

it is probably a good idea to update the docs discussing SCI. After discussing the issue with Stefan and Tomas, I've determined that the best (and most future-proof) way of handling this topic is to remove most of the discussion in the Manual and instead link to a copy of a document that Dolphin have provided that describes in detail how to use their technology in conjunction with MySQL Cluster.

Thank you for your bug report. This issue has been addressed in the documentation. The updated documentation will appear on our website shortly, and will be included in the next release of the relevant products.
