Thank you for the report. Verified on OS X 10.4. In my case behavior is different: I can rename Bob to Bill, but error is shown and after restart Bob-Bill becomes "newuser" again. Described behavior I get if after saving Bob I restart MySQL Administrator, then try to change it to Bill.

You are correct, the behaviour I get in 10.5 also is as you describe.
