According to:

MySQL Workbench OSS edition is supposed to be able to forward engineer to an SQL script, and the only forward engineering that's in the SE edition only is forward engineering to a live db.

Install MySQL Workbench OSS.  Try to click Database -> forward engineer.

Suggested fix:
Please enable the promised features!!!

Hello Sheeri,

the feature you're looking for is not in the database menu. you can find it in the main menu under:
File->Export->Forware Engineer SQL CREATE/ALTER script ...

Then the docs need to be fixed, as they don't specify a menu to look at, and having 2 menu items called "forward engineering" is confusing.
