Using mysql-5.0.67-solaris10-i386.pkg.gz:

## Executing postinstall script.
ERROR: 1004  Can't create file '/var/tmp//installCYaGtb/#sql2b3_1_0.frm' (errno: 13)

Installation of system tables failed!

Examine the logs in /var/lib/mysql for more information.
You can try to start the mysqld daemon with:
/opt/mysql/mysql/bin/mysqld --skip-grant &
and use the command line tool
/opt/mysql/mysql/bin/mysql to connect to the mysql
database and look at the grant tables:
