It is unclear what to do about day abbreviations. In Unix locales they do not have accents. According to IBM they do have accents. So we have a choice between Κυρ | Κυρ Δευ | Δευ Τρι | Τρί Τετ | Τετ Πεμ | Πέμ Παρ | Παρ Σαβ | Σάβ Please indicate which is correct. If possible please supply a reference to an official Greek standard.

Unfortunately, this is not currently covered by any national or international standard, according to information provided via informal personal communication with Mr Melagrakis Evangelos (office number: +30-210-2120107), who works for ΕΛΟΤ, the National Standards Organisation (http://www.elot.gr). Windows VISTA uses accents, while Linux does not. It appears that, due to the lack of a standard, programmers had to make their own choices. While, I support the open source initiative, I would personally advise you to use accents, because they help with reading the shortened words properly. Κυρ Δευ Τρί Τετ Πέμ Παρ Σάβ Sincerely, Dr Nikolaos Tsarmpopoulos
