Description:
I installed from sources mysql server 5.1.26-rc and found out that mysql benchmark is very old.

At least it even does not include test-extra (that was created in about 2005).
At least it contain bug in test-ATIS that prevents using mysql benchmark against postgresql (I fixed this bug in the end of 2005 in bitkeeper)..

I believe if MySQL/SUN is not going to support mysql benchmark any more, it must not be in source distribution. Or at least it must be latest version.

How to repeat:
compare mysql bench in bitkeeper/(or what is using now) and in source package.

Suggested fix:
launch mysql bench as separate project and wipe it out of mysql source package

Hi Bjorn.

I believe this benchmark certainly must not be shipped with mysql server. My opnion - It's better to create separate open source project somewhere, (say) on launchpad or github or so.

And relocate this benchmark to that new project. Probably some open source community could maintain it.

The sql-bench tool was removed in newer versions of MySQL (5.6+). Hence closing this request.
