Description:
Hi There,

I have installed the MySQL Workbench edition on my windows XP machine after suceesfully installing and updating Net 2.0 framework. The problem is that when I try to start the Workbench, it simply crashes (without starting) and Windows gives me the famous message saying that "The MySQL Workbench found a problems and needs to be closed.".

Does anyone knows how I could solve this?

Cheers,
Marcel

How to repeat:
I simply have to try to start the application.

Thank you for a problem report. Do you have SP3 installed on your XP?

I can't repeat on XP SP3. Do you have DEP enabled?. Thanks in advance.

Hi Miguel. The option that is marked on my DEP config is the first one, that is, "Activate DEP only for essential Windows programs and services". IS that ok?

That is the same configuration I have and also Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 installed.
[3 Jul 2008 12:31] MARCEL VINICIUS OLIVEIRA
Ok. Is there any further information that would help you to help me?

Reading the reference manual ans trying to follow the steps I found some small deviations.
(1) I can't find the file misqld at the bin directory
(2) I can't find the my.ini at the c:\windows directory

Does this indicate some problem?

I removed my servers install from my XP box and that doesn't affects the Workbench tool function. So I only can guess is some environment difference between your XP and mine.
