Description:
When using the msi Install Wizard, the Setup Type screen doesn't necessarily make it clear that picking Typical or Complete options also picks the 'standard' directory locations.
As an addendum, The 'Ready to Install' screen doesn't make it totally clear that you need to pick Custom to select different Destination and Data folders. (If you are not happy with the default file and data locations)
I feel that this is a usability issue: If a user wants a Typical Install, but isn't happy with the specified install locations, they might not feel comfortable with selecting Custom (ie, they might not know what constitutes the Typical install they desire even though this is the only way to hand pick an install location).
Writing this bug up per developer request.
How to repeat:
-Download a version of the Windows msi installer
-Follow the prompts to the Setup Type screen
-Note that a Typical or Complete install will not allow you to pick install locations, nor does the Ready to Install screen (after Setup Type) let you know that you need to select Custom Install to pick the install locations
-Note that the Custom Install prompt does not let you know what constitutes a Typical Install (a Complete Install is kind of obvious)
Suggested fix:
Would it be better to add a screen before 'Ready to Install' that allows the user to select Destination and Data locations after picking which Server files they want to install? It could have a Typical and Custom button for data locations as well. This would eliminate the tedium of needing to do a 'Custom' install for those users that aren't familiar with what constitutes Typical, etc
If not, some clarification needs to be added to the Setup Type screen that makes it clear that the Typical and Complete options do not allow you to pick file locations.
