Description:
Hi,

Please add a new storage file type to the MySQL workbench that stores the modeled Schema in a Common Warehouse XMI format. The Common Warehouse Model is an OMG standard (http://www.omg.org/cwm/) that is designed for Meta data exchange in the data Warehouse field. It contains multiple sections on how parts of the Data Warehouse is model. One part contains the modeling of relational tables. It is support full SQL99 syntax. The XML Metadata Interchange format (XMI) is an XML based file format that is a physical XML representation of the CWM. It can be used to export/import meta data from/into Tools like BO, Oracle Tools etc. Also a more sophisticated management of meta data is possible. Table designs can go through a text based reviewing system. Comparison of Schema versions can be performed with standard DIFF tools.

Currently there are no OpenSource tools that provide this funktionality. So incorporating this storage format into MySQL Workbench would give a significant benefit in using MySQL Workbench.

Thanks and Cheers,
Peter

Many thanks for writing a feature request.

After long discussion we decided that we won't change this behaviour in foreseeable future.

Thank you for your interests in MySQL Workbench.
