I checked out svn trunk, ran autogen, configure, make, rpmbuild... but when I install using yum I see this error:

# yum localupdate /tmp/mysql-proxy-0.7.0-0.i386.rpm

rpm -Uvh gives same errors as well.

Could you try building rpm using the latest code from the launchpad repository?
