Description:
The Manual at: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/6.0/en/windows-source-build.html
says:

"Windows 2000, Windows XP, or newer version. Windows Vista is not supported until Microsoft certifies Visual Studio 2005 on Vista."

The below Service Packages fix the above issue:

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU Service Pack 1 (KB926601)
Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU (KB937061)
Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU (KB932232)

How to repeat:
Apply the SPs and compile on Vista with VS2005.
