Description:
The call "perl unit.pl run ...." is hanging, as is the process

  22836  ??  S      0:01.13 ../storage/maria/unittest/lockman2-t

No "mysqld" seems to be running.

How to repeat:
Rerunning the unit test reproduces the hang

  % cd mysql-5.1.23a-maria-alpha/unittest 
  % perl unit.pl run ../storage/maria
  Running tests: ../storage/maria../storage/maria/unittest/lockman2-t.........................ok 39/40
