Description:
It seems that the windows binary of this server version is packaged like a 'chinese box' with a redundant copy inside ...

How to repeat:
see image after unzipping (using the unzipper shipped with Windows Vista)

download archive unzipped

.. and I experience that it unzips *very slow* due to this! :-(

after waiting for almost 2 hours (it's is a 2*2 Ghz processor!) I realized that I could just cancel the unzip proces, as the 'outer recursion' had finished unzipping.

Next I simply deleted everything that was allready unzipped from the 'inner recursion', replaced the complete folder with my existing 5.1 installation, edited the my.medium_ini and renamed to my.ini (server refused to start with old my.ini). And everything works as expected!

This is an ANNOYING lack of basic QA (file control)!
Such issues will not encourage users to test this build!

Under Linux, using 'unzip', this zip file unzips in 4 seconds and shows no recursive content. We should test again using Windows' built-in unzipper.

yes .. please consider archives distributed!

zip-archives for Windows from MySQL AB are often very slow to unpack!
(packages distributed as .msi are not!)

Windows packages should be built on Windows basically I think!

But I think also the Windows unzipper on Vista is in particular slow! However I tried some freeware GUI zip programs too .. and that also took a lot of time!

Thank you for the report.

I can not repeat problems with layout on my 32-bit Vista. Although extracting works quite slow, but I don't think this is a bug of zip package.
