Description:
Increasing number of bytes have to downloaded for newer versions of MySQL distribution needs better file compression format for MySQL distribution packages.

How to repeat:
N/A

Suggested fix:
I recommend to add MySQL source and/or binary in 7zip file format to improve compression ratio and to save time downloading bigger file.

We're not planning on doing this. The current choices are ubiquitous and, for a slight increase in download size, ensure that they can be read universally on target platforms.

This may change in the future, of course, .xz appears to be generating some traction for example. But we would not consider switching (or providing additional formats) until there is persuasive coverage.
