Description:
Clicking in the blank data type field of a new column the table column editor appears to set the type to INT. Clicking on the canvas immediately re-blanks the data type field again.

Conversely, clicking the data type field when it is not blank selects the contents, and pressing del deletes them. Clicking on the canvas however resets the old value instead of leaving it blank.

When clicking in another place in the column editor, the data type is changed as expected.

How to repeat:
Create a new table, right click to edit, in the new column, left click in the data type field, observe that an INT data type is filled in and is selected.

Clicking on the canvas blanks it out again, whereas it is expected to remain filled in.

Suggested fix:
Make the click on the canvas retain the value in the data type field

fixed in SVN Rev 2728.
the behaviour now is that every time the editor looses focus and has a valid entry it accepts this as new value - this is good excpt for one action - I want to be able to <Esc> the editor without applying any changes. (its just a minor request but it's really what I expect of any editor)
