Description:
An inordinate number of users on Freenode ask for the Reset Root Password page, and then cannot find the Linux instructions until told to scroll down.

How to repeat:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html

Suggested fix:
"The procedure for Unix systems is given later in this section." - that phrase is already on the document; perhaps make it a link to a named anchor by the Linux instructions.

Or, offer remedial "reading for comprehension" classes to the public at large. Less feasible, but better long term benefits.

Thank you for a reasonable documentation request.

Thank you for your bug report. This issue has been addressed in the documentation. The updated documentation will appear on our website shortly, and will be included in the next release of the relevant products.

I've split this section in two. Windows instructions will appear on http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions-windows.html and Unix instructions on http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions-unix.html. Links to these two new subsections will appear at the top of http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html.

Correction: The new subsections won't actually be on separate pages.

The URLs are:
