Description:
I have several servers running Ubuntu 7.04 (server ed.) with Linux 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Sun Sep 23 18:31:23 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I have mysql server (mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.38, for pc-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2).

When i'm giving some load to network beetwen my boxes some problems appear when connecting to mysql server:

1) it's not possible to select database (for example the php function mysql_select_db fails)
2) monit - the monitoring system - says that mysql server fails test protocol.

How to repeat:
server 1 - the server with mysql
server 2 - the server with rsync daemon
server 3 - the application server

For example - start copying a 1 Gb file through rsync protocol from server 1 to server 2.

While the file is transefered it's not possible to select any database at server 1 mysql remotely from server 3.

Suggested fix:
No ideas.

The network is - 100 Mb ethernet network.

We're sorry, but the bug system is not the appropriate forum for asking help on using MySQL products. Your problem is not the result of a bug.

Support on using our products is available both free in our forums at http://forums.mysql.com/ and for a reasonable fee direct from our skilled support engineers at http://www.mysql.com/support/

Thank you for your interest in MySQL.

Hi!

Have You tried to repeat the bug? I'm sure it's a bug exactly of the bundle of ubuntu 7.04 server x64 and mysql 5.0.38.

Thank you for the feedback.

But MySQL bug database is for reports about bugs in MySQL and not network or Ubuntu problem.

From your description seems cause is network settings problem which don't allow to connect to MySQL while rsync is transferring the file.

If you think this is MySQL bug please upgrade to current version 5.0.45 or 5.0.46, try with it and if you still can repeat described behaviour provide information why do you think this is MySQL bug.

>But MySQL bug database is for reports about bugs in MySQL and not
network or Ubuntu problem.

But why there is an option of OS select when reporting a bug?

However:

I have the version of mysql 5.0.38 with the latest patches - i dont think the upgrade to next version is an option.

And i have to say that it's possible to connect to mysql server - it's not possible to select the database to work with.

Other services are working ok.

Some additional information:

1) the server is running with default settings
2) the bug is monitored at several servers with 5.0.38 version - not the only one
3) there are no problems in the same network with Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.24a - so it's no a network problem
4) the bug can be easely repeated

Thank you for the feedback.

I can not repeat described behavior in my environment. Please try current version 5.0.67 (our binaries available from dev.mysql.com/downloads) and inform us if problem still exists.
