Description:
Connector/Net 5.1.3 will not install on my machine. When I start the .msi all I get is the following "Another version of this product is all ready installed. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove programs on the Control Panel." The only problem is the I have uninstalled all on the Connector/Net and MySql Tool for Visual Studio and it still shows the error. If there were some useful log information I might be able to solve the problem, but all I get is the same message box with the above text. This started when I installed a early beta of 5.1.x.

Can you please point me to a fix - which I am guessing would be a registry fix, or provide an instalation log.

How to repeat:
Start the Mysql.data.msi on my machine.

I know - not much.

Suggested fix:

Hi Lynn and thanks for your report. I believe you're hitting a recent change which disallows you to have both 5.1 and 5.0 c/NET installed on the same machine. Is this the case? If so, just remove 5.0.

I have unintalled all 5.0 entries, cleaned out the GAC and the machine.config. Still a no go. I think I have a corrupted install somewhere. Any whay you can help me unroot it pointing me the right way in the registry?

Lynn

Google for a pair of utilities named msiinv and msizap. msiinv will list all the products that think they are installed. msizap will kill a product given its product code.

Lynn, did the suggested utilities helped?

I am working on it now. I can already see a few 5.0x installs in the msiinv.exe output.

I will let you know how it goes.

Thank you for the advice!
