Description:
The agent update installer fails on several systems with this problem:

/nfstmp1/merlin/packages/1.2.0.7481/agents/mysqlserviceagent-1.2.0.7481-freebsd6-x86-update-installer.bin --installdir /nfstmp1/merlin/agent/1.1.1.5780/freebsd6-x86/bsd60
 --mode unattended
Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly
 Error creating directory /usr/home/mysqldev/mysql/enterprise/agent/patchbackup

I tried to update an older 1.2.0 installation which was *not* installed to the default path (see command line above).

Similar problem seen (so far ...) on FreeBSD 6 x86, in all 3 HP versions, TurboLinux10 and Solaris 10 Intel 32bit.

The update installer shows the problem on the console but *does not change the $RC*. So detecting this from a script does not work!

How to repeat:
see above

Suggested fix:
- make update installer working
- return with a non-zero returncode in case of detected problems

This error happens when installing in unattended mode in a directory other than the default.
The patchbackup directory isn't being properly updated inside the installer. You can work around this for now by explicitly setting it using the --backupdir comand line option

We are working on getting you a fixed project XML as soon as possible.

reduced to S3/P3 as
- a work around for unattended mode is present with specifying "--backupdir ..." in the command line
- in text mode the problem does not occur
