Description:
I tried to install MySQL and accidentally isntalled the PowerPC. I trashed it and cleared mysql from usr/local. Now when I install the intel version I get "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install." When I try to install the universal binary, which has to be done from the command line, the first command "groupadd" does not exist.

What is wrong? What to do?

How to repeat:
Install PowerPC version. Delete. Remove from usr/local. Try to install the correct version.

Thank you for the report.

I can not repeat described behaviour with current version 5.0.45. Please upgrade.

I just deleted 5.0.41 from usr/local as described above, received the same error and attempted to install 5.0.45 as advised. I am still receiving the same error.

The key seems to be removing any MySQL receipts from /Library/Receipts. After that, I was able to install MySQL afresh.
