Description:
Checking the event log to see the result of a backup from MySQL Administrator, I found messages of the form:

The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( MySQL Administrator ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Backup file e:\MySQL Backups\TestBackup 20070725 1433.sql written successfully..

... which means either that the DLL containing the message table doesn't exist or that there is a missing or wrong registry entry. In this case, the former is true - the file libmysqladminmsg.dll referred to correctly in key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application\MySQL Administrator just doesn't exist.

How to repeat:
1) Run a backup
2) Examine the event log, Application log

Thank you for the report.

Verified as described.

I found the msg dll on another machine that had upgraded from v4 to v5. So the bug is that a fresh install of v5 doesn't have the msg dll, whereas doing an upgrade from v4 keeps the msg dll installed with that version.

Is solution or fix for this bug already available?

Many thanks for writing a bug report. We are on the way to implement full functionality of MySQL Administrator into MySQL Workbench. We won't fix uncritical bugs in MySQL Administrator anymore.
