Date presentation is tied to the properties file. As we don't have one for German, you will neither get the strings in German nor the times formatted as you would expect in Germany.

PHP has some predefined formats that we can no longer leverage in the jsp version. We may want to consider hiding locales that do not have associated properties files. Given that we have native speaking Germans and it sounds like we may need to do a Japanese version, I might expect 3 supported locales for the 1.2 final release (or a point release shortly thereafter).

1. I see this as a big loss in usbility for all that are not familiar with the "AM/PM" time representation

2. if the selection "german" cannot be used please hide it from the dialog, even it's only temporary

3. a general switch to the ISO time format would be an idea as long as only one representation is possible
