Description:
following on from bug 2863, I have tried the new connection dialog with user 
root@localhost, hostname localhost, port 3306 and connect using socket file 
/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock 
 
on clicking connect, there is a very brief flash of a white rectangle next to server 
instance at the top of the dialog and the program then crashes.

I cannot reproduce that. Could you please send me a backtrace?

I needed to recompile with debug before I could do a backtrace. In the process I discovered that I hadn't set my permissions correctly. The "bug" is therefore the absence of an error dialog before the program shuts down
