Description:
File DSN does not work.

USER DSN works, but only with a valid MySQL user and password are embedded, if when prompted for user and password Access 2007 running an FE MDE or a MDB crashes.

How to repeat:
Relink Access to tables to MySQL 5.1 server with ODBC to prompt for user and password.

This also appears to fail in Vista with Office 2007. Every connection via ODBC seems to crash the Office programme (Excel, Access, Word).

And also CodeCharge Studio 3.0 :-(

It also happens with MS-Access 2003/Windows XP SP2. MS-Access shows the tablelist, but crashes after selecting one or more tables.

MS-Visio 2003 (Reverse engineer) also crashes when using Connector 3.51.15.

Thomas, thanks for your report and sorry for the delay in processing.
I do not have Office 2007 yet, and don't know when will I acquire one, so can this be repeated with Office 2003?

Richard, I am sorry but "just crashes" is not a bug report. My environment works just fine FileDSN (importing and linking several tables at once):
 - MySQL server 5.0.44BK on WinXP Pro SP2 localhost
 - MS Office 2003 fully updated
 - MyODBC 3.51.15 GA

I tried several versions and finally found a solution.

Using an older MySQL ODBC client with Access 2007 (on Vista) worked for me.

I used v 3.51.07 -> http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php?p=mysql-connector-odbc-3.51&v=3.51.07
