Description:
When connecting to any of the GUI Tools I must enter the IP address of my machine, "localhost" is rejected. The following error is displayed if "localhost" is used;

Could not connect to host 'localhost'.
MySQL Error Nr. 2002
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

I can connect to the mysql client using either the IP address or "localhost".

How to repeat:
Connect to any GUI Tool using the default installation of MySQL on Ubuntu.

Suggested fix:
Allow connection using "localhost".
