Description:
hello,

i have already use mysql server community on my server and since i have install again my server under windows 2003 server with sp2, i can t to install mysql server 5.0.37. No, i can to install but when i want to configure an instance, i can to create my.ini, create service and not applied security settings...

and when i uninstall server or remove instance and create new, this is the same message and sometimes, another message about the impossibility to create service again. I use differents names for the service but no effect.

i precise that my server has not firewall enable and i insert an exception tcp:3306 in parameters

i have a serious problem to start an application !!!

thx

How to repeat:
download mysql-5.0.37-win32 setup file
launch install
select yes to configure the server
for me, i choose detailed config (server machine,transactional,multilingual(utf8),service name by default, change location data, insert password root)
select apply
-ok to prepare

-ok to create my.ini

-ok to create service(not all the time, after more uninstall and install) error 1130

-not ok to apply security settings(error 2003)

Hi Sebastien and thanks for your report. I tested Enterprise version 5.0.38 yesterday on my XPPro x64 box and find it failing on step two:
- create my.ini with "Can't copy File1 ..." so I had to do everything manually. So I don't think it's 32bit / 64bit specific.

I did clean uninstall of previous version before installing new one. Could it be that some old my.ini file was left on your machine?

Tonci's question: Could it be that some old my.ini file was left on your machine?.
Thanks in advance.

yes during this time, i use the next methode:

i install mysql, always with error
i copy my data from my windows xp (mysql development) to same directory on server
i copy my file my.ini from my windows xp mysql server to windows 2003 sp1 server mysql and run the service

and it s running !!!
after, i modidy some privileges, users and password and it's working

yes using not old but another my.ini and data files from working server, it s ok
