Thank you for the bug report. I was unable to repeat:

I downloaded the file from the below mirror:

It seems that I didn't notice the errors at the end of the extraction, the file was probably corrupted during the download process itself, my apologies.

I downloaded again from the same location and now it validates:

> md5sum mysql-5.1.16-beta.tar.gz
fb6fd4d26335245f679572f65c299762  mysql-5.1.16-beta.tar.gz

Just in case, I did a diff between the two directories resulting from both downloads):

> diff -r mysql-5.1.16-beta mysql-5.1.16-beta2

Binary files mysql-5.1.16-beta/Docs/manual.chm and mysql-5.1.16-beta2/Docs/manual.chm differ
